After Arattai, Zoho's Google Chrome killer tops App Store charts

Zoho, the Indian software powerhouse, continues to make waves with its innovative solutions aimed at competing with industry giants. Following the success of its Arattai messaging app, which recently soared to the top of the App Store charts, Zoho has launched its latest creation: the Ulaa browser. Designed to rival well-established browsers like Google Chrome and Apple’s Safari, Ulaa has quickly gained traction on both the App Store and Play Store. While Arattai serves as a popular alternative to WhatsApp, Ulaa aims to carve out its own niche in the web browsing market, emphasizing user privacy and security. Built on the Chromium framework, Ulaa distinguishes itself by not collecting, storing, or selling user data, a stark contrast to Google’s approach, which personalizes ads by gathering user information. According to Zoho, Ulaa offers advanced features that prioritize confidentiality and minimize users’ online presence. The browser comes equipped with built-in ad blockers and tracker protection, enhancing the overall browsing experience. Ulaa also introduces various profile modes tailored to different user needs, including Work, Personal, Kids, Developer, and Open Season, ensuring versatility for both casual and professional users. Ulaa’s development was recognized when it won the Indian Web Browser Development Challenge, an initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology aimed at fostering indigenous technology. Additionally, the browser integrates seamlessly with Zoho's Single Sign-On (SSO) system, allowing users to easily access Zoho applications without repeated logins. The profiles are also linked to Zia, Zoho's AI-driven unified search system, enhancing functionality. However, Ulaa faces significant competition, particularly from rivals like Perplexity, which are incorporating AI features into their browsers. To effectively challenge the dominance of Chrome, Ulaa may need to explore the integration of advanced AI capabilities in its platform. As the browser landscape evolves, Ulaa has the potential to establish itself as a serious contender in the market, but its future will hinge on its ability to adapt and innovate in the face of fierce competition.
