YouTuber folds Galaxy Z Fold 7 2,00,000 times. Here's what happenned

Samsung made a significant mark in the smartphone industry with the introduction of its first Z Fold in 2019, venturing into the realm of foldable technology. Fast forward nearly seven years, and the company has launched the Z Fold 7, touted as the lightest and most advanced foldable device to date. A primary consumer concern regarding these innovative devices is their hinge durability. Samsung claims that the Z Fold 7 can withstand up to 500,000 folds—an impressive upgrade from the 200,000 folds guaranteed with its predecessor, the Z Fold 6. This means that, theoretically, if a user folds the phone 100 times daily, it should last around a decade, or over six years with 200 folds a day. Yet, a recent test by a Korean YouTuber from the channel Tech It sought to challenge this assertion by manually folding and unfolding the Z Fold 7 a staggering 200,000 times over five days. Throughout the testing, the YouTuber encountered a “reboot error” after the initial 6,000 to 10,000 folds, which recurred approximately every 10,000 folds thereafter. By the time the device reached 46,000 folds, creaking noises emanated from the hinge, though the phone continued to function properly. However, things took a concerning turn at 75,000 folds when the device began to leak an unknown black liquid from the hinge, which later subsided. Alarmingly, this liquid made a reappearance at the 105,000-fold mark, alongside deepening creases on the display. As the test progressed to 175,000 folds, the Z Fold 7's speakers—top, bottom, and earpiece—ceased to function. The YouTuber noted a significant loss of elasticity in the hinge, which had also become noticeably smoother. Despite these challenges, the Z Fold 7 ultimately achieved the 200,000-fold milestone, with no dead pixels on the inner display and accurate touch response, albeit with a more pronounced crease. This experiment provides valuable insights into the practical durability of foldable smartphones, raising questions about their long-term reliability.
