YouTube is rolling out a fresh collaboration tool designed to enhance the visibility of content creators, taking inspiration from familiar features on Instagram. This innovative update will enable creators to tag their collaborators within videos, streamlining the process for audiences to discover and subscribe to all participants involved in a project. A Google employee shared information about this feature on YouTube Help, revealing that it is currently in the testing phase with a select group of trusted creators. A notable demonstration of this tool can be found in a recent video by MrBeast, featuring popular creators like Mark Rober, Ben Azelart, and the Stoke Twins. Once fully implemented, viewers will have the ability to tap on the primary creator’s name in a video, triggering a pop-up that lists all tagged collaborators, each with a Subscribe button. On mobile devices, if the number of collaborators exceeds a certain limit, the display will show a truncated version with a label indicating “..and more,” which can be expanded for additional details. Similar to features on competing platforms, YouTube's collaboration system requires consent from both parties. The primary uploader must send an invitation to the collaborating creator, who must then accept the request for their name to be publicly associated with the video. This measure is designed to prevent unauthorized tagging, ensuring that creators cannot label others without their approval. As of now, it is uncertain whether collaborators will gain access to backend analytics or other creator data that is typically exclusive to the original uploader. YouTube plans to gather feedback from these initial testers before expanding the feature to a wider audience.
