YouTube to use AI to help podcasters promote themselves with clips and Shorts

In a groundbreaking announcement during its Made on YouTube live event in New York, YouTube has revealed innovative tools designed specifically for podcasters. These new features will allow video podcasts to be transformed into clips and YouTube Shorts, leveraging artificial intelligence for enhanced ease of use. The AI-driven suggestions for creating clips will first be available to video podcast creators in the United States. This functionality is expected to roll out in the coming months, while the ability to convert those clips into engaging YouTube Shorts is slated to launch early next year. This strategic move could bolster YouTube's competitiveness against popular short-form video platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, simultaneously guiding viewers toward interesting podcasters and boosting engagement on the platform. Additionally, YouTube is set to introduce a feature aimed at audio-only podcasters, allowing them to transform their audio content into customizable videos. This feature will also utilize AI technology, but it will initially be available to a select group of podcasters, with a broader rollout anticipated later in 2026. YouTube's commitment to enhancing its podcasting tools has been evident in recent years, as the platform has worked to make podcasts a more visible aspect of its homepage and YouTube Music service. Meanwhile, competitors like Spotify are also making strides in this space, introducing features such as comments, polls, Q&As, and monetization options for podcasters. As of February, YouTube announced it had surpassed 1 billion monthly viewers for podcasts, and recent figures indicate that users are now consuming over 100 million hours of podcast content daily, with more than 30% of those hours originating from livestreams or premieres.
