In a significant shift, YouTube has revealed plans to retire its iconic Trending Page, a staple of the platform since 2015. This change is set to take effect on July 21, 2025, following a noticeable drop in traffic to the page. The company explained that users are increasingly discovering popular content through personalized recommendations and features like Shorts, comments, and Community posts, rather than relying on a dedicated trending section. According to YouTube, the transition reflects the evolving habits of its audience, with fewer users visiting the Trending Page in recent years. "In the past five years, fewer people have been visiting the Trending Page. Users are now discovering what’s popular in more dynamic ways across the platform," YouTube shared in an official blog post. To replace the Trending Page, YouTube is launching YouTube Charts, which aims to showcase top-performing content in specific categories. Currently focused on music, this new feature allows users to explore trending music videos, popular podcasts of the week, and trailers for hit films. YouTube has also indicated plans to expand the Charts feature to encompass a wider variety of categories in the future. For gamers, the Gaming Explore page will remain a source for trending content, while all users can still access the general Explore page, creators’ channels, and their subscription feeds for non-personalized content. YouTube also highlighted the importance of its algorithmic recommendations, which provide a curated selection of popular videos tailored to individual viewing habits. This decision is likely to elicit varied responses from content creators, many of whom have depended on the Trending Page for enhanced visibility and cross-promotion. For those seeking inspiration or insights into trending topics, YouTube suggests utilizing the Inspiration tab within YouTube Studio, where tailored content recommendations can be found based on performance and audience interests.
