YouTube has rolled out significant updates to its budget-friendly subscription plan, Premium Lite, as of March 12. The new enhancements include the much-anticipated background play and content download options, which empower users to continue enjoying their favorite videos while multitasking or offline. Subscribers will now be able to play videos in the background when switching to different applications, and they can also download content for viewing without needing an internet connection. This update is currently being deployed and will reach all Premium Lite users in the upcoming weeks. Originally launched last year, YouTube Premium Lite was designed to offer a more affordable way for users to enjoy ad-free video streaming. With the addition of these new features, the service has become even more appealing, particularly for those who frequently use YouTube for entertainment. In contrast, the full YouTube Premium subscription offers a wider range of features, including ad-free viewing across all videos and music, offline downloads, background play, 1080p video quality, and more. The Premium Lite plan is priced at Rs 89 per month, while the comprehensive YouTube Premium plan costs Rs 149 per month.
