At the recent Made On event, YouTube introduced three innovative features aimed at strengthening the bond between artists and their devoted fanbase on YouTube Music. One standout addition is a countdown tool for upcoming music releases, enabling users to pre-save their favorite songs and albums ahead of time. This countdown will be prominently featured on the album detail page, artist profile, and album shelf, generating anticipation as the release date approaches. This feature resembles Spotify's Countdown Pages and is set to launch later this year. Beginning early next year, artists will also have the opportunity to interact with their most dedicated followers by sharing exclusive 'thank you' videos. These will be akin to Spotify's year-end Wrapped experience, along with behind-the-scenes content and other engaging material. YouTube aims to reward these top fans and foster a more personal connection with their favorite musicians. In addition, YouTube Music is piloting a program for U.S. listeners, giving them access to exclusive merchandise drops from artists. This move aligns with Spotify's recent initiatives targeting 'super fans' with similar features. This announcement follows last month's rollout of new features commemorating YouTube Music's 10th anniversary, which included collaborative playlists, user badges, and the ability to comment on albums and playlists directly.
