In a significant update, YouTube is enhancing its shopping capabilities within Shorts, as announced on Wednesday. The platform is introducing innovative Shopping product stickers, designed to help viewers instantly recognize shoppable items featured in the Shorts. This development not only streamlines the shopping experience for users but also presents creators with an opportunity to boost their earnings. During testing last month, YouTube discovered that Shorts utilizing the new Shopping product stickers experienced over a 40% increase in product clicks compared to those using the traditional Shopping button. Previously, tagged products were displayed in a banner at the bottom-left corner of the Shorts, which, when clicked, revealed a list of available products for viewers to explore. With the new stickers, creators can now tag products directly in their Shorts, automatically generating a sticker for the first tagged item. They have the flexibility to modify the size and position of these stickers to fit their content better. If multiple products are tagged, viewers can tap on a downward arrow on the sticker to access a complete list of items. Interested users will then be directed to the retailer's website for more information on the products they wish to purchase. YouTube plans to roll out these Shopping product stickers globally over the next week, with the exception of South Korea, where a launch is anticipated soon. During the Cannes Lions 2025 event, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan shared exciting statistics, revealing that Shorts now accumulate more than 200 billion views daily. Additionally, he announced that Google’s Veo 3, a video generator capable of producing both video and audio, will be integrated into Shorts later this summer.
