The Young Minds App wants to protect and educate children online and will show its tech at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025

The Young Minds app aims to offer parents a robust tool to manage their children's online activities while prioritizing safety and education. Founded by Nino Dvalidze, an entrepreneur and mother from the UK, the app emerged from discussions with parents concerned about navigating the complexities of internet safety. Dvalidze emphasized the dual purpose of the app: granting parents control while also fostering healthy online habits in children. Young Minds will be showcased at the Startup Battlefield during TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, running from October 27 to 29 in San Francisco. The app consists of two components: a parent version and a child version. Parents can establish screen time limits and restrict access to certain content, without having full oversight of their children's communications. "We’re doing safety as a minimum foundation," Dvalidze explained. "It’s crucial that children are shielded from inappropriate content." In addition to protection, Young Minds educates kids on why specific content is blocked or flagged as risky. Utilizing AI technology, the app scans a child’s device for potentially harmful material without storing any personal data. Furthermore, an in-app chatbot assists parents in understanding the risks associated with various websites or applications. Currently available on Android, the iOS version is set to launch next week. Dvalidze noted that due to iOS restrictions, the Apple version will differ slightly, using alternative methods to manage data collection with parental consent. The app also features customizable routines, allowing parents to implement modes like "study mode" for educational apps or "wind down mode" to limit usage before bedtime. This flexibility enables parents to tailor the app’s functionality to fit their family's unique needs. For those interested in learning more about Young Minds and witnessing live pitches from other startups, TechCrunch Disrupt promises an exciting lineup of speakers and presentations from October 27 to 29 in San Francisco.
