India AI Impact Summit 2026: Yotta, Nvidia to announce major AI GPU expansion in India, says CEO Sunil Gupta

At the forthcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, Yotta Data Services and the American semiconductor giant Nvidia are poised to announce a significant boost in artificial intelligence computing capacity within India. This development comes as the demand for AI infrastructure continues to surge, according to Yotta's CEO, Sunil Gupta, who shared this insight during a panel discussion on February 16. Gupta revealed that in the coming days, both Yotta and Nvidia will unveil details regarding a substantial increase in their GPU (graphics processing unit) capacity. These GPUs, primarily sourced from Nvidia, play a crucial role in training and operating sophisticated AI models. As India strives to enhance its domestic AI capabilities, securing these vital chips has become a priority. Over the past two years, Yotta has successfully deployed nearly 10,000 GPUs and is now planning further expansions to prevent potential shortages as the adoption of AI technology accelerates. Gupta emphasized, "Our goal is to ensure that when India's AI applications move into production, there will be a sufficient supply of GPUs available. The computational resources will always be accessible." This expansion aligns with India's ambition to become a key player in the global AI market, supported by governmental initiatives and increasing private investments in data centers. Gupta highlighted that India's history of technology adoption tends to speed up as costs decrease and services become more refined, citing mobile connectivity and digital payments as examples of this trend. He warned, however, that the widespread use of AI across India's vast population could lead to a dramatic rise in the demand for data processing and electricity, necessitating a considerable increase in data center capacity. Gupta expressed optimism about the role of government support and industry investments in accelerating the development of infrastructure, predicting that within two years, computational resources will no longer be a bottleneck in India. "Our aspiration is not only to cater to Indian citizens but also to draw global AI demand to our shores," he concluded.
