Xiaomi, the renowned Chinese technology giant, is making significant strides in the realm of virtual racing. In an exciting announcement, the company unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration with Polyphony Digital, the creators of the iconic Gran Turismo series. This partnership will see Xiaomi's flagship electric vehicle, the SU7 Ultra, make its debut in Gran Turismo 7 on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This marks a historic moment as it is the first time a Xiaomi vehicle will be featured in the esteemed racing simulator. The announcement was made during Round One of the Gran Turismo World Series 2025, where Xiaomi emphasized that the inclusion of the SU7 Ultra signifies its emergence as a formidable player in the luxury electric vehicle market. Kazunori Yamauchi, the visionary behind Gran Turismo, recently visited Xiaomi's electric vehicle factory in Beijing, where he had the opportunity to take the SU7 Ultra for a test drive. In his remarks, Yamauchi expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "We are thrilled to partner with Xiaomi. The SU7 Ultra Prototype has redefined performance standards at the Nürburgring. Witnessing their achievements inspires me, reflecting Xiaomi's courage and dedication to innovation, which aligns closely with our philosophy at Gran Turismo." Xiaomi's Founder and CEO, Lei Jun, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the alignment of their mission with Yamauchi's vision of using technology to improve lives. The SU7 Ultra is an impressive vehicle, equipped with Xiaomi's proprietary HyperEngine V8s tri-motor system, generating an astonishing 1,548 PS of power. It boasts a top speed of over 350 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds. The company has rigorously tested its high-performance electric vehicles at the Nürburgring, using track performance data to enhance real-world driving experiences. Zhoucan Ren, Xiaomi EV's Chief Test Driver, stated, "We will consistently be present at the Nürburgring to refine our products and push the limits of high-performance luxury vehicles." Looking ahead, Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital have plans to co-create a Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept car, solidifying Xiaomi's commitment to the virtual motorsport arena. This initiative aligns with Xiaomi's broader strategy of integrating smartphones, home appliances, and electric vehicles, creating a cohesive ecosystem that enhances user experience. Since launching its EV division in 2024, Xiaomi has been intensifying its efforts to compete not only in consumer electronics but also in the mobility sector. Gran Turismo players worldwide can soon look forward to experiencing the SU7 Ultra in their racing adventures.
