Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 launched in India with Helio G100-Ultra SoC: Price, features

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Pad 2 in India, marking a significant addition to its tablet lineup aimed at enhancing entertainment and productivity experiences. This new device features an impressive 11-inch high-resolution display, extended battery life, and is notable for being the first tablet in India to come equipped with Google's Circle to Search functionality right out of the box. The Redmi Pad 2 boasts an 11-inch 2.5K LCD panel with a resolution of 2,560x1,600 pixels. It supports a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and can reach peak brightness levels of 600 nits. The display caters to visual enthusiasts with its 10-bit color support and TÜV Rheinland eye protection certification, while its wet-touch technology ensures it remains responsive even when fingers are damp. Housed in a sleek frame measuring just 7.36mm thick and weighing 510g, the tablet is available in two attractive colors: blue and grey. At its core, the device is powered by MediaTek’s 6nm Helio G100-Ultra processor, paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Running on Xiaomi’s new Android 15-based HyperOS 2.0, the tablet features an intuitive user interface and enhanced integration with Google’s AI tools, including the Gemini AI. One of the standout features is the native support for Circle to Search, which allows users to perform searches directly from their screen with a simple gesture. This innovation positions the Redmi Pad 2 as the first tablet in India to offer this capability immediately upon release. For photography and video calls, the tablet is equipped with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. Users can expect an immersive audio experience thanks to a quad-speaker system that has been fine-tuned with Dolby Atmos technology. The device is powered by a robust 9,000mAh battery with 18W wired charging support, ensuring users can enjoy extended periods of usage on a single charge. Connectivity options are comprehensive, including 4G LTE on select models, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Additional onboard sensors include an accelerometer, a hall sensor, and a virtual ambient light sensor, enhancing its functionality. The Redmi Pad 2 also supports smart pens, making it an ideal choice for students and professionals seeking versatility. The pricing for the tablet starts at ₹13,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage Wi-Fi-only model, with Wi-Fi + 4G options available at ₹15,999 (6GB + 128GB) and ₹17,999 (8GB + 256GB). Sales are set to commence on June 24 through Xiaomi’s official website, Amazon India, and select offline retailers.
