In a bold move to challenge Samsung's dominance, Xiaomi unveiled a range of new devices during a launch event held in Munich. Central to this announcement was the international debut of the Xiaomi 15T series, which includes the Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro smartphones. Priced at 649 euros ($766) and 799 euros, respectively, these models reflect Xiaomi's commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology at competitive prices. The new smartphones boast impressive features such as a triple-camera setup, a spacious 6.83-inch display, and robust battery life. Xiaomi aims to position these devices as serious contenders against Samsung's popular mid-range A series and high-end S series. For context, the Samsung S25 starts at 799 euros, while its premium S25 Ultra model is priced at 1,249 euros in Germany. Bryan Ma, vice president of device research at International Data Corporation, highlighted that the Xiaomi 15T serves as an affordable flagship option, offering high-end specifications at a more accessible price point. Over recent years, Xiaomi has broadened its market presence and diversified its product range, which now includes everything from washing machines to electric vehicles. In the European market, Xiaomi has established itself as the third largest smartphone manufacturer by market share, trailing only behind Samsung and Apple. This growth has been fueled by a strategic mix of high-end and mid-tier offerings that provide stiff competition to its rivals. Earlier this year, Xiaomi also launched its premium Xiaomi 15 phones globally. Looking ahead, the company is preparing to unveil its flagship 17 series in China. According to Runar Bjorhovde, an analyst at Canalys, the Xiaomi 15T represents a significant step in Xiaomi's strategy to appeal to budget-conscious consumers who still desire high-end features. In addition to its smartphone lineup, Xiaomi announced the global launch of its Mijia brand, which includes various home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. This expansion mirrors Samsung's approach of offering a comprehensive ecosystem of products that range from home appliances to smartphones and televisions. Ma emphasized that Xiaomi's entry into new sectors invariably increases competitive pressure on existing players, owing to its business model that prioritizes quality products at aggressive prices.
