Xiaomi is gearing up for the introduction of its next flagship Ultra smartphone, and fresh leaks provide intriguing insights into its camera capabilities. While the official launch date is still under wraps, preliminary information hints at a significant evolution in the company’s hardware approach for this high-end device. A recent report from XiaomiTime has surfaced, showcasing leaked images that suggest the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature a streamlined triple-camera setup, departing from the previous quad-camera design of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. This shift indicates a focus on enhancing specific sensor performance and focal lengths rather than simply increasing the number of lenses. The camera development, reportedly codenamed “Nezha,” is expected to include a 50-megapixel main sensor (OVX10500U), a powerful 200-megapixel telephoto lens utilizing Samsung’s S5KHPE sensor, and an ultra-wide camera that may use either an OV50M or S5KJN5 sensor. For selfies and video calls, the front-facing camera is likely to feature a 50-megapixel OV50M sensor. One of the standout features of the upcoming model is anticipated to be the 200-megapixel telephoto camera, which is rumored to support advanced 4×4 RMSC technology, enabling multi-focal-length lossless zoom and improved telephoto macro capabilities. Enhancements in magnification, focus range, and dynamic range are also expected, promising exceptional photography experiences. Interestingly, this new information contradicts prior reports that suggested a more complex four-camera system for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which would have included three 50-megapixel sensors along with the 200-megapixel telephoto lens. Instead, Xiaomi appears to be opting for a more efficient and potentially superior triple-camera configuration. If Xiaomi adheres to its usual product release schedule, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is projected to debut in 2026 as part of the larger Xiaomi 17 series, which will also encompass the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Although these details remain unverified, the accumulating leaks signal that the Ultra variant is poised to showcase one of the most sophisticated telephoto systems that Xiaomi has ever developed.
