Xbox Developer Direct 2026: Forza Horizon 6, Fable and Game Pass price updates

In a thrilling celebration of its 25th anniversary, Xbox kicked off the year with a spectacular Developer Direct event, showcasing gameplay from some of its most anticipated titles. The presentation provided insights into game launch dates and pricing specifically for the Indian market. From the vibrant streets of Tokyo to the enchanting landscapes of Albion, here’s a roundup of the highlights from the 2026 showcase. The show commenced with the much-anticipated announcement that Forza Horizon 6 will be set in Japan. Developed by Playground Games, this latest installment is set to feature the largest map in the series' history, including a meticulously crafted Tokyo, winding mountain drift routes, and expansive countryside. In a departure from previous iterations, Forza Horizon 6 will no longer include in-game “Superstar” or “social media” elements. Instead, players will start their adventure as a typical tourist in Japan, gradually advancing through the ranks of the Horizon Festival. The game is slated for release in India on May 19, 2026, priced at Rs 5,999, reflecting Microsoft’s commitment to global pricing standards for AAA games. Additionally, it will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, providing an economical option for players eager to explore Tokyo's streets. Playground Games also provided an in-depth look at the much-awaited Fable reboot, showcasing a stunningly rendered, next-gen version of Albion that honors the franchise’s hallmark dark fantasy narrative and British humor. The developers emphasized an interactive world filled with over 1,000 unique NPCs whose actions shift based on player reputation. Fable is expected to launch in Autumn 2026, and in a notable change for both the series and Xbox, it will also be available on PlayStation 5, expanding access to India’s growing console player base. In addition to these major announcements, Microsoft updated its Xbox Game Pass pricing for Indian gamers. The Game Pass Essential will be offered at Rs 499 per month, providing access to a curated game library and online multiplayer features. The Game Pass Ultimate will be available at Rs 1,389 per month, which includes day-one access to titles like Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, as well as EA Play and cloud gaming services. The showcase also introduced two new projects: Beast of Reincarnation, an action-RPG from Game Freak, scheduled for release in Summer 2026, and Kiln, a unique “pottery-based brawler” developed by Double Fine, expected to arrive in Spring 2026. With a robust lineup of first-party titles and multiple day-one Game Pass launches, 2026 is poised to be a landmark year for Xbox gamers both in India and around the world.
