In a recent announcement, X has modified its algorithm to enhance the visibility of posts among users and their mutual followers. Nikita Bier, the head of product, shared that this adjustment aims to address a significant oversight where mutual connections were underrepresented, making interactions feel more like a competitive arena, often dominated by unfamiliar voices. The update is designed to create a more community-oriented atmosphere on the platform, rather than allowing it to become a chaotic space filled with random comments. Bier emphasized that this change would facilitate easier formation of clusters around shared interests, something that many users have expressed a desire for. X has been actively implementing various changes recently, many of which are geared toward transforming the platform into a more appealing space for creators. Earlier this year, the company revamped its compensation model to encourage original content creation over simple content aggregation. Additionally, a new video editing tool was introduced to streamline the content creation process for users. This algorithm tweak also comes in response to similar updates being made by competitors like Meta’s Threads, which has been focusing on community-building features to distinguish itself from X. Notably, Threads recently launched a feature allowing users to customize their feed visibility, further enhancing user experience. The platform has also celebrated reaching 500 million monthly active users, highlighting its growing popularity.
