Wipro adds 135 employees in Q4, attrition eases to 13.8%

In the final quarter of March 2026, Wipro reported a total of 242,156 employees, reflecting a modest increase of just 135 from the previous quarter's total of 242,021. The cautious hiring approach comes amid a fluctuating demand landscape across various sectors for India's fourth-largest IT services firm. Looking back over the year, Wipro's headcount has seen a notable rise. The company employed 233,346 individuals at the end of March 2025, translating to an overall addition of approximately 8,810 employees throughout the fiscal year. On the attrition front, Wipro has experienced a continued decline in voluntary departures. In the March quarter, the attrition rate fell to 13.8%, down from 14.2% in December and significantly lower than the 15.1% recorded in June. However, workforce utilization—a crucial measure of operational efficiency—slightly decreased during the quarter, with net utilization excluding trainees at 83.5%, down from 83.1% in Q3 and 86.4% in Q2. In terms of financial performance, Wipro achieved a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,501.8 crore for the March quarter, marking a 12.27% increase from the Rs 3,119 crore profit reported in the prior quarter. However, year-over-year, there was a slight decline of 1.9% compared to the Rs 3,569.6 crore earned in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the fourth quarter stood at Rs 24,236.3 crore, reflecting a 7.69% growth compared to Rs 22,504.2 crore from the previous year, and a 2.88% increase from Rs 23,555.8 crore in the preceding quarter. In comparison, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported a net increase of 2,356 employees in the same quarter, bringing its total workforce to 584,519 by the end of Q4FY26.
