A significant disruption in internet services has affected numerous platforms, including ChatGPT and the popular game 'League of Legends,' as well as public transit in New Jersey. Cloudflare, a key player in internet infrastructure, reported that it began addressing these outages shortly after 9:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday. The company announced that its dashboard services have been restored, but it continues to work on resolving broader impacts on application services. In an effort to address the situation, Cloudflare temporarily disabled some functionalities for users in the United Kingdom. According to their status page, Cloudflare stated, "We have implemented changes that have allowed Cloudflare Access and WARP to recover. Error levels for Access and WARP users have returned to pre-incident rates, and we have re-enabled WARP access in London." The company remains focused on bringing other affected services back online. In addition to ChatGPT and gaming platforms, other services experiencing issues include the social media site X, Shopify, Dropbox, Coinbase, and Moody's credit ratings service. Users visiting Moody's website encountered an Error Code 500, directing them to Cloudflare for further information. Based in San Francisco, Cloudflare plays a crucial role in safeguarding websites against online threats while ensuring smooth operations. This incident follows a recent outage for Microsoft’s Azure cloud portal, which left users unable to access services such as Office 365 and Minecraft due to configuration changes. Additionally, in October, Amazon faced a significant outage in its cloud computing service, which affected a wide array of online functionalities, from social media to financial platforms.
