Should you wait for iPhone 17? Five reasons why new flagship could be worth it

Apple is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of the iPhone 17, slated for announcement at its ‘Awe Dropping’ event on September 9. While the tech giant is known for keeping tight-lipped about new products until the official reveal, numerous leaks over the past year have provided insights into what consumers can expect from the latest flagship devices. The iPhone 17 Pro models are rumored to feature a fresh design, while the iPhone 17 Air is expected to take over the Plus model from the previous year. However, the most exciting news is that the budget-friendly iPhone 17 may finally deliver a truly flagship experience, boasting significant upgrades in display, camera, and processing capabilities. If you're contemplating whether to hold out for the iPhone 17, here are five reasons that might convince you to wait. First, while Google's latest Pixel 10 showcases an LTPS AMOLED display, the iPhone 17 is anticipated to adopt the ProMotion 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display found in last year's iPhone 16 Pro models. Additionally, the new device is expected to feature a larger 6.3-inch screen, a step up from the 6.1-inch display of its predecessor. Moreover, the iPhone 17 could finally introduce Always-On Display (AOD) functionality, previously exclusive to Pro models, thanks to the upgraded ProMotion technology. Under the hood, the device is likely to be powered by the A19 processor, promising slight improvements over last year's A18 chipset. With 8GB of RAM, the iPhone 17 should efficiently support the advanced Apple Intelligence features in iOS 26. Photography enthusiasts will also appreciate the expected upgrade to a 24MP selfie camera, a significant enhancement from the 12MP sensor in the previous generation. This new camera is believed to offer improved detail and a convenient option for high-quality 2x cropping. As for color options, Apple plans to retain the Black and White variants while introducing new hues for the iPhone 17 in 2025. Anticipated color choices include Steel Gray, Green, Purple, and Light Blue, adding variety to the lineup. Stay tuned for more details on pricing, features, and the launch date for the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and Air models.
