WhatsApp rolls out Missed Call Messages, AI image upgrades and more features

In a significant update announced on Thursday, WhatsApp introduced a range of new features aimed at improving communication and creativity for users globally, just in time for the holiday season. This initiative by the Meta-owned messaging platform includes enhancements in calling, messaging, AI-driven image tools, and desktop functionality. Among the standout features is the introduction of Missed Call Messages, which aims to replace conventional voicemail. With this new option, users can leave a brief voice or video message when their call is not answered, streamlining the way people stay connected without the limitations of traditional voicemail systems. WhatsApp is also enhancing voice chat interactions, allowing users to react in real time with new reactions, such as cheers, without interrupting the flow of conversation. Additionally, during video calls, the platform will now automatically highlight the active speaker, improving clarity during group discussions. The update extends to WhatsApp's AI capabilities, particularly in image generation. Users can expect significant improvements in image quality, which will be especially beneficial for creating festive images and holiday greetings. Furthermore, a new feature enables users to animate their photos into short videos by entering prompts or messages, making it easy to bring static images to life directly within the app. On the desktop front, WhatsApp is launching a new media tab that allows users to better organize documents, links, and media across their chats. The link previews have also been enhanced for a cleaner and more informative appearance. Moreover, status updates are becoming more dynamic with the addition of new stickers, enabling users to incorporate music lyrics, interactive stickers, and questions for others to respond to. Channels will now feature a questions function, allowing administrators to engage with followers and gather instant feedback. With these updates, WhatsApp is poised to create more engaging conversations while introducing creative tools just in time for the festive season.
