New WhatsApp feature may let iPhone users switch between multiple accounts

WhatsApp is currently working on an exciting new feature for its iOS platform that aims to simplify the management of multiple accounts on a single device. This forthcoming update, which remains in the development stage, is expected to introduce a dedicated section within the app's settings, allowing users to switch between accounts seamlessly without needing to log out or restart the app. According to insights from WABetaInfo, this feature was identified in the beta version 25.19.10.74 of WhatsApp for iOS. It proposes the creation of an 'Account List' page — a central hub where all logged-in accounts will be visible. Users will have the ability to view profile photos, statuses, and manage settings for each account, including the option to add or remove accounts as needed. When a user selects a specific account, WhatsApp is expected to retrieve the associated chat history, settings, and preferences unique to that account. This includes personalized features such as auto-download settings, notification tones, and backup options, all without requiring a logout or app restart, making account management significantly more efficient. In addition to multi-account support, WhatsApp is also rumored to be developing a new notification system designed for users who juggle multiple accounts. Notifications from secondary accounts will likely display both the sender's name and the corresponding account name, enabling users to identify and respond to messages more easily. Tapping on such notifications is anticipated to switch users directly to the relevant account and open the chat. While this feature is actively being developed, it is not yet available to beta testers through Apple’s TestFlight program. There is no official timeline for when the public will gain access to this multi-account functionality, but if released, it could significantly enhance the usability of WhatsApp on iOS. This enhancement would align the app more closely with existing features on Android, offering greater convenience for users managing separate personal and professional accounts.
