WhatsApp testing precision text selection feature for Android and iOS users

WhatsApp is on the verge of introducing an innovative capability designed to simplify the process of copying specific segments of text within chats. This feature has recently been identified in beta versions of the app for both iOS and Android users. The new tool will allow individuals to easily highlight and extract chosen words or phrases from messages, eliminating the cumbersome task of copying entire texts and then editing them later. As reported by WABetaInfo, a reliable source for WhatsApp updates, this selective text feature appears in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 25.16.81 and Android version 2.25.18.3. Once implemented, users will be able to drag their finger across a message to select a segment, prompting a pop-up menu that offers options such as copy and share. Currently, WhatsApp does not support this selective copying method, which can be particularly inconvenient when dealing with lengthy messages or when users wish to forward specific information. The anticipated feature seeks to fill this usability void and enhance the overall messaging experience. Presently, the selective copy function is available to a small group of iOS beta testers through Apple’s TestFlight program, while Android users have yet to gain access via the Google Play Beta Program. Reports indicate that the feature will gradually become available to a wider audience in the upcoming weeks, though Meta has not yet made an official announcement.
