WhatsApp is rolling out an innovative voicemail feature that allows users to leave voice messages when a call goes unanswered. This new option was discovered in the latest Android beta version by WABetaInfo and is currently being tested by a limited group of users. When a call is not picked up, a new button labeled "Record voice message" will appear on the call screen, providing an alternative to the existing options of "Call again" or "Cancel." This feature enables callers to instantly record and send a voice message without navigating back to the chat window. Unlike regular voice notes, which can be sent at any time, this function is specifically designed for missed calls. The recorded message will be directly sent to the chat thread, appearing alongside the notification of the missed call. This design aims to streamline communication, especially in situations where important information needs to be shared promptly with someone who is unavailable. Currently, this voicemail-like feature is exclusive to the Android beta and has not been made available in WhatsApp's iOS TestFlight program yet. As WhatsApp continues to enhance its calling features, it follows a recent test of a reminders option that aids users in returning missed calls. These updates signify WhatsApp's commitment to improving its calling experience, responding to user preferences as text communication becomes increasingly popular.
