WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, is launching a new subscription service known as "WhatsApp Plus" for iOS users. After being tested in beta, this feature is now gradually becoming available to a select group of iPhone users, with plans for a broader rollout in the near future, as reported by WABetaInfo. The introduction of WhatsApp Plus is set to enhance the existing experience for users, while the standard version of the app will remain free. The subscription will unlock a variety of premium features, including animated stickers, customizable app icons, and additional app themes. One of the standout features will allow users to pin up to 20 chats, a significant increase from the current limit of three. Moreover, WhatsApp Plus will introduce new tools designed to simplify chat management. Users will have the capability to create custom lists for work-related chats or specific contacts, enabling them to apply uniform settings such as themes and notification sounds across multiple conversations simultaneously. This will greatly enhance organization and personalization within the app. Currently, the WhatsApp Plus subscription has not been launched in all regions, including the United States. In Europe, it is priced at approximately €2.49 per month, and it is anticipated that the cost in the US will range between $2.49 and $2.99, which is equivalent to around ₹284 in India. Official details from WhatsApp regarding the full feature set and global availability are still awaited, so users will need to stay tuned for further announcements in the coming weeks.
