WhatsApp has unveiled an array of exciting new features designed to enhance the group calling experience for its users. Among the most notable updates is the ability to schedule group calls and send out invitations ahead of time, ensuring a more organized approach for both personal and professional settings. The messaging giant made this announcement in a recent blog post, emphasizing that all calls are safeguarded with end-to-end encryption. Users can easily schedule a call by following a few simple steps: first, they need to tap the '+' button located in the Calls tab, then select the ‘Schedule call’ option. Next, they can add the intended participants or groups to the invitation list. Once scheduled, attendees will receive a reminder notification prior to the call, and all upcoming calls can be conveniently managed within the same tab, which displays a list of participants and call links. The user who creates the call link will also get notifications whenever someone joins the call. In addition to scheduling capabilities, WhatsApp is enhancing the interactivity of group calls by introducing features that allow users to express themselves more freely during conversations. This includes the ability to react in real time and a “raise hand” option, aimed at facilitating smoother group discussions. This launch comes on the heels of WhatsApp's introduction of “Message Summaries” in June, powered by MetaAI technology, which provides users with condensed overviews of private chats. This feature is particularly useful for quickly catching up on unread messages without having to sift through every single one. Furthermore, as reported by AFP, WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, is also gearing up to introduce new monetization options within its Updates tab, which will feature paid channel subscriptions, promoted channels in the Discovery directory, and advertisements within Status updates.
