Pixel 10, AI capabilities, and everything else we expect out of the Made by Google 2025 event

The excitement is palpable as the Made by Google 2025 event approaches, with the Pixel 10 series set to make its debut ahead of Apple's iPhone 17 launch in September. This year's gathering is scheduled for August 20 at 10 a.m. PT, and tech enthusiasts are eager to see how Google plans to expand its Pixel lineup, particularly with the integration of generative AI through its Gemini platform. At a recent developer conference, Google unveiled several AI advancements, but the upcoming event is expected to showcase even more features. A playful YouTube promotional video hinted at Google's competitive edge over Apple, especially in light of Apple’s challenges with their AI developments. Among the most anticipated features is the "Camera Coach," an innovative tool that will provide users with real-time advice for capturing stunning photographs. Utilizing its AI capabilities, Gemini will analyze the scene and recommend optimal angles and lighting conditions. Additionally, a conversational photo editing feature is rumored to allow users to verbally request adjustments, such as increasing brightness or altering backgrounds. The standard Pixel 10 model is expected to receive a significant upgrade, including the addition of a dedicated telephoto lens, a feature previously reserved for the Pro versions. Following the leak of design renders showcasing a new third lens, Google has confirmed these camera enhancements. All models in the Pixel 10 lineup are anticipated to be powered by the new Tensor G5 processor, marking a leap in performance and energy efficiency compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G4. While the overall design is likely to mirror that of the Pixel 9 series, the display sizes are expected to remain consistent: the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro will sport a 6.3-inch display, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL will feature a larger 6.8-inch screen. Improvements are also expected in camera quality, video performance, and battery life, potentially narrowing the gap with competitors from Apple and Samsung. Speculation is swirling about Google’s upcoming foldable phone, which may sport a larger cover display of around 6.4 inches and an 8-inch main screen. Enhancements to hinge durability and thinner bezels are also anticipated, along with the possibility of an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance—an upgrade from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's lack of dust protection. Like its Pixel 10 counterparts, the Pro Fold will likely be equipped with the new G5 chip and the latest Gemini AI features, along with a camera system that could include a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Battery life improvements are also expected. In addition to the smartphones, wearables will take center stage at the event, with rumors of the Pixel Watch 4 featuring a bulkier design, enhanced battery life, and new health-tracking capabilities, including an upgraded SpO2 monitoring function. The Pixel Buds 2a are also set to receive a refresh with new colors and active noise cancellation features, while the Pixel Buds Pro 2 may debut in a stylish new Sterling color.
