Webflow buys AI content generation platform Vidoso to bolster its marketing suite

Webflow, a prominent player in the website building and hosting domain, is set to enhance its marketing suite with the acquisition of Vidoso, a cutting-edge AI content generation platform. Launched in 2024, Vidoso harnesses the power of large language models to assist businesses in creating a variety of marketing materials, including images, presentations, video clips, blog posts, and social media content. Notably, the platform can transform keynote speeches and panel discussions into engaging short videos or articles. The small yet skilled team of four from Vidoso will be joining Webflow full-time as part of this strategic move, although the financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. Vidoso has previously secured $3.7 million in funding from investors such as Aspenwood Ventures, Emergent Ventures, and Tau Ventures, according to PitchBook data. Webflow's CEO, Linda Tong, emphasized that while the team is small, the technology acquired will significantly shift the perception of Webflow from merely a website builder to a comprehensive marketing platform. "This is a major step in that direction," she stated in an interview with TechCrunch. Tong pointed out that AI tools enable companies to quickly create assets and advertisements, but the siloed nature of different departments often undermines the final output. With Vidoso's integration, Webflow aims to unify various marketing functions, including brand management, demand generation, product marketing, and content creation. Sharad Verma, CEO of Vidoso, highlighted the limitations of existing AI models, which are trained on generalized internet data rather than tailored to specific brand needs. He noted that Vidoso was developed to close this gap, ensuring that AI-generated content aligns with brand systems, rules, templates, and approval workflows necessary for coherent enterprise marketing. Having raised over $330 million in funding thus far, Webflow has been actively working to expand its marketing offerings. In addition to Vidoso, the company previously acquired personalization startup Intellimize in 2024 and launched a Google Ads integration earlier this year to improve performance tracking. Despite facing competition from a surge of startups automating marketing processes with AI, as well as established marketing tools from major tech firms, Tong believes that Webflow's comprehensive solutions for content creation, campaign management, and performance analysis will attract a growing customer base. "You need to capture insights and analyze them to feed back into the learning system. Webflow provides a complete lifecycle for content success," she concluded.
