Vybe, a startup co-founded by seasoned Y Combinator entrepreneurs, has successfully raised $10 million to introduce the innovative concept of vibe coding into major corporations. This emerging practice enables users to harness the power of AI and natural language prompts for app development, moving away from conventional programming methods. As vibe coding gains traction, it has attracted substantial venture capital, influencing the decisions of businesses weighing the options between purchasing software solutions or developing their own tools through vibe coding. While established platforms like Lovable and Replit facilitate the creation of prototypes and landing pages, Vybe distinguishes itself by offering enhanced security that remains impervious to AI modifications and integrates directly with internal data systems. Cofounder and CEO Quang Hoang, who previously established the engineering mentorship platform Plato, is partnering with cofounder and CTO Fabien Devos, the founder of security AI startup Wolfia. Together, they aim to enable teams within organizations to collaboratively develop applications. Engineering teams can oversee access to internal systems, such as Salesforce, Snowflake, and Databricks, while business teams are empowered to create apps for various functions, including onboarding, performance reviews, and customer service. "The new SaaS is going to be more like Legos," Hoang commented, referring to the software-as-a-service model. Vybe also provides customizable app templates designed by prominent figures, such as former Airbnb product leader Lenny Rachitsky and Front cofounder Mathilde Collin, which users can adapt for their specific needs. The seed funding round, led by First Round Capital, saw participation from Y Combinator, executives from Datadog and Grammarly, along with product leaders from OpenAI and Meta. Currently, Vybe employs six staff members and has secured a growing customer base. The newly acquired funds will be utilized to expand their engineering team. Vybe operates on a subscription model, charging $12 per user monthly, along with usage-based credits for app development. This funding milestone comes amid a burgeoning interest in vibe coding, with other startups like Emergent also attracting significant investments, even as some analysts caution that the initial excitement may be waning. Investors are closely monitoring how AI and vibe-coding tools could transform the software landscape, especially as the software sector has recently faced its most significant downturn in years, with a loss of approximately $2 trillion in market capitalization.
