Great news for owners of the 2025 Volvo EX90: the Swedish automaker is offering a complimentary upgrade to the vehicle's core computer system. This enhancement involves the installation of a new dual Nvidia DRIVE AGX Orin setup, which Volvo claims will boost performance and decrease battery consumption. Additionally, this upgrade will activate several features that were previously not available. The announcement comes as a relief, particularly considering the challenges Volvo faced during the EX90's development. The automaker had to postpone the electric vehicle's launch not once, but twice, primarily to resolve software issues. When we first experienced the EX90 last year, we noted that the vehicle's roof-mounted lidar was not fully integrated into the advanced driver-assistance systems, and many features were still under development. Initially, the EX90 was equipped with a single Orin chip alongside a less capable Xavier chip. However, this setup proved inadequate, prompting Volvo to opt for dual Orin chips in the upcoming ES90 electric sedan. The decision to retrofit the existing 2025 EX90 models with this superior technology is a significant step forward for the company and its customers.
