Inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass? Vivo launches OriginOS 6 with AI upgrades

Vivo has officially rolled out its latest operating system, OriginOS 6, in China, coinciding with the launch of BlueOS 3 for its smartwatch range. This new Android 16-based OS will first be available on the Vivo X300 Pro, Vivo X300, and iQOO 15 smartphones, with plans for broader compatibility with older models in the upcoming months. OriginOS 6 introduces a refreshed user interface that enhances the overall aesthetic of the home screen, lock screen, and applications. A standout feature is the dynamic, resizable clock widget that adjusts in real-time with notifications, complemented by modern circular app icons and curved-edge widgets. Interestingly, the design is said to take cues from Apple’s Liquid Glass aesthetic found in iOS 26. Among the innovative features is the "Atomic Island," a function reminiscent of Apple's Dynamic Island, which facilitates quick access to controls such as music playback and a stopwatch. The update also enhances user experience with progressive blur effects, stacked notifications, and a revamped control center that allows for customizable quick settings. At its core, Vivo has integrated the new Blue River Smooth Engine, which boasts super-core computing, dual-rendering architecture, and photonic storage. These advancements aim to provide smoother animations, enhanced touch responsiveness, and improved frame rate stability during app transitions. Vivo claims that this engine will significantly minimize lag, ensuring a more seamless user experience. The suite of AI capabilities introduced with OriginOS 6 is extensive. It includes a new AI phone assistant, AI-generated summaries, and features such as Circle to Search 2.0, which allows users to highlight on-screen objects to instantly retrieve related information. Moreover, the Live Photo AI Removal feature offers users the ability to erase unwanted elements from both still images and Live Photos, thus enhancing image editing flexibility. An AI image editor is also available, capable of improving resolution, removing objects, and converting images into PDFs. In addition to OriginOS 6, Vivo has launched BlueOS 3 for its smartwatch lineup, starting with the Vivo Watch 5 and iQOO Watch 5 (available in both Wi-Fi and Cellular versions) as part of a public beta on November 3. Notably, the Vivo Watch GT 2 is said to offer an impressive battery life of up to 33 days under this new OS. BlueOS 3 also features new always-on display watch faces, improved animations, personalized app suggestions, and Blue Heart V calling support. Vivo has announced a staggered rollout schedule for OriginOS 6, beginning in November 2025 and extending through May 2026, with various models set to receive the update each month. This includes devices from the Vivo X Fold series, iQOO 13 and Neo series, and more, ensuring a broad range of users will benefit from the enhanced features and performance improvements.
