Vivo has announced the impending launch of its latest foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 5, in India. While the exact launch date remains unconfirmed, the company has teased the device in a promotional video, sparking excitement among tech enthusiasts. This launch follows Vivo's earlier plans to introduce the X200 FE, hinting that both devices might debut together. The timing of this announcement is particularly noteworthy, as it coincides with Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event scheduled for July 8, where the tech giant will reveal its latest foldable and flip phone models. Although Vivo has not yet disclosed the specifications for the Indian edition of the X Fold 5, insights from its Chinese variant provide a glimpse of what consumers can anticipate. The Vivo X Fold 5 boasts an impressive 8.03-inch 2K+ 8T LTPO AMOLED display, offering a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Additionally, it features a 6.53-inch Full HD+ LTPO AMOLED cover display, which shares the same refresh rate and brightness capabilities. At its core, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, complemented by the Adreno 750 GPU. Users can expect configurations of up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a maximum of 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. While the Chinese version ships with OriginOS 5 based on Android 15, the Indian model is anticipated to incorporate Funtouch OS 15. On the photography front, the X Fold 5 is likely to sport a formidable camera setup, including a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens from Samsung, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with Zeiss optics. For selfies and video calls, a 20MP front-facing camera is expected. Security features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for quick access, and the device is rated IPX9+, indicating resistance to high-pressure and high-temperature water jets. Powering this advanced gadget is a robust 6,000mAh battery, supporting 80W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging capabilities. In China, the Vivo X Fold 5 is priced between 6,999 Yuan (approximately ₹84,000) and 9,499 Yuan (around ₹1,14,000) for the high-end model, though pricing in India is yet to be announced and may differ significantly.
