Goodbye Funtouch OS! Vivo X300 and iQOO 15 likely to debut with Origin OS 6

Vivo and iQOO are making a significant transition in the Indian market, moving from FunTouch OS to the Android 16-based Origin OS 6. This shift has been anticipated for several months, and recent updates indicate that the FunTouch OS official X page has now been rebranded to Origin OS, signaling the imminent change. Currently, Vivo and iQOO devices in China already utilize Origin OS, while global markets, including India, have relied on FunTouch OS. Origin OS is often praised for its enhanced customization options and a more polished user experience compared to its predecessor. However, it remains uncertain whether the new interface will maintain the same issues with advertisements and bloatware that users have experienced with FunTouch OS. Vivo has announced that Origin OS 6 will debut in China during the Vivo Developer Conference scheduled for October 10, 2025. This updated OS is expected to introduce a “Comfort Engineering” design philosophy, featuring new lighting effects and AI enhancements, such as AI-driven natural conversations and the Xiao V Memory 2.0. The first devices to showcase Origin OS 6 are anticipated to be the Vivo X300 series and the iQOO 15, launching in China this October. However, there is currently no confirmed timeline for when Origin OS 6 will arrive in India. According to leaks, the iQOO 15 is likely to boast impressive specifications, including a 6.8-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 600 nits and a 165Hz refresh rate. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, complemented by a dedicated gaming chip. The device may also feature an 8K vapor cooling chamber to enhance performance during gaming sessions. In terms of memory and storage, the iQOO 15 could support LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, mirroring its predecessor's capabilities. Photography enthusiasts might appreciate the anticipated 50MP triple camera setup, which includes a periscope lens supporting 3x optical zoom, alongside a 32MP front-facing camera. To power all these features, the flagship device may come equipped with a robust 7,000mAh battery supporting 100W wired fast charging. Additionally, the iQOO 15 could feature a color-changing rear panel and a stylish metallic frame with integrated RGB lighting, appealing to a modern aesthetic.
