'Tutors, 24x7 doctors, farm advisors': Vinod Khosla pitches AI social reset at India AI Summit 2026

During the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held on February 19, technology pioneer Vinod Khosla presented a compelling vision for the future of India, focusing on how artificial intelligence can transform the lives of the nation's underserved populations. Khosla, the founder of Khosla Ventures, outlined a strategic plan to integrate AI into various sectors, serving as personal tutors, advanced advisors, and healthcare providers. In his keynote address, Khosla drew attention to the educational disparities faced by children, particularly in rural communities. He advocated for the implementation of AI tutors to bridge this gap, referencing the successful CK-12 Foundation’s AI tutoring program, which has reached approximately 400 million students globally. "In India, 4 million students have benefitted from the TAI tutor, with over 12 million using it consistently," Khosla stated, emphasizing the widespread adoption of these tools. He confidently asserted that AI could outperform traditional personal tutors, as it offers tailored learning experiences that are accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status. Khosla also addressed the pressing issue of healthcare access in India, highlighting the shortage of medical professionals. He expressed optimism about the potential of AI doctors to provide continuous care for chronic diseases and mental health issues at a fraction of the cost. "This is about creating a new kind of doctor, capable of understanding when to escalate cases to human professionals," he explained. He believes that AI can significantly enhance the efficiency of healthcare services, improving patient outcomes and engagement. To bolster India's agricultural sector, Khosla proposed deploying AI-powered, round-the-clock access to PhD-level economic advice for farmers. He illustrated how AI could assist in crop management and weather forecasting, making expert knowledge accessible even to those who may struggle with literacy. "Farmers can simply speak, observe, and take pictures to receive guidance," he noted, reinforcing the notion that technology can empower individuals regardless of their educational background. Khosla's vision presents a transformative path for harnessing AI to uplift society and foster economic growth in India.
