VC Ron Conway says he has a ‘rare form of cancer’

Renowned venture capitalist Ron Conway announced on Friday that he has been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. In a heartfelt message shared on X, Conway revealed his decision to reduce his involvement in certain activities while still committing to supporting the founders associated with his investment firm, SV Angel. Conway expressed his intention to maintain a more manageable schedule, allowing him to focus on treatment while continuing to assist SV Angel's founders during critical phases of their ventures. He reassured stakeholders that SV Angel's operations will remain stable, highlighting that his son, Topher Conway, has been leading investment decisions for nearly a decade. Additionally, his other son, Ronny Conway, is set to join as a managing partner next year. In his message, Conway emphasized the expertise of his sons, who bring valuable experience from significant technology trends in Silicon Valley, particularly in the burgeoning field of AI. While he chose not to disclose the specifics of his cancer diagnosis to avoid speculation regarding his prognosis, he conveyed a sense of optimism about his situation.
