Check out the exclusive pitch deck Valerie Health used to raise $30 million from Redpoint Ventures to automate healthcare faxes

Valerie Health has successfully raised $30 million in Series A funding, led by Redpoint Ventures, marking a significant milestone for the startup co-founded by Peter Shalek and Nitin Joshi, the latter known for his role at Uber Health. This latest round of investment brings the company's total funding to $39 million since its inception in 2024. During product demonstrations, Shalek employs a striking approach to showcase their technology, stating, "This is a weird demo because you'll never have to use this software." The company's primary mission is to automate tedious front-office tasks within healthcare, including patient scheduling and referrals. By taking over these responsibilities for independent provider groups, Valerie Health is not only easing administrative burdens but also enabling these practices to thrive independently, rather than being absorbed by larger healthcare systems or private equity firms. Shalek emphasized the common challenges faced by provider groups across various specialties, such as urology and cardiology. These challenges often stem from managing patient intakes and follow-ups amidst a backlog of referrals. The administrative pressures can sometimes lead to undesirable acquisitions, which can drive up costs for patients and diminish clinician satisfaction. Valerie Health aims to counteract these trends by making independent practices more efficient and profitable. The startup’s approach involves managing front-office tasks through its own employees, who oversee the software's autonomous operations. This model has helped practices increase patient volume by 5% to 7% on average. Despite facing competition from other companies in the healthcare automation space, such as the recently funded Tennr, Valerie Health distinguishes itself with its unwavering focus on independent provider groups. Shalek noted that the ease of their service—allowing practices to delegate tasks without the need for additional software training—sets them apart in a crowded market. As demand for their solutions grows, Valerie Health is keen on expanding its customer base and enhancing its technology offerings, including developing voice AI agents for patient follow-ups. With a significant increase in revenue—tripling in the last quarter—Shalek is optimistic about future growth, projecting a six to sevenfold increase in revenue next year. The startup is also in the process of hiring across various departments, tapping into talent from major tech firms like Stripe and Uber to bolster its expansion efforts.
