Trump admin to hire 1,000 specialists for 'Tech Force' to build AI, finance projects

In a bold move, the Trump administration has introduced the 'U.S. Tech Force,' an initiative aimed at recruiting approximately 1,000 engineers and specialists dedicated to enhancing artificial intelligence infrastructure and advancing technology projects across federal agencies. This new program is designed for a two-year commitment, where participants will collaborate closely with agency leaders and prominent technology firms. The initiative aims to strengthen America’s position in the AI sector, especially in light of growing competition with China. Official sources indicate that private sector collaborators for this project include major players such as Amazon Web Services, Google Public Sector, Microsoft, and Nvidia, among others. This collaboration emphasizes the administration's commitment to fostering innovation in AI. The announcement follows President Trump's signing of an executive order to establish a national AI policy framework, which has been a pressing concern for industry leaders advocating against state-level regulations. Upon completing their term in the Tech Force, participants will have the opportunity to pursue full-time positions with the partner companies, which have pledged to consider alumni from the program for employment. Additionally, these private sector firms may nominate their own employees for government service roles. Compensation for the roles within the Tech Force is expected to range from $150,000 to $200,000 annually, along with benefits. Scott Kupor, Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, highlighted the initiative’s goal of aligning talent with critical technological challenges facing the nation, stating that the workforce will focus on impactful projects, including AI implementation and digital service modernization across various federal agencies.
