In a significant move for the artificial intelligence sector, the U.S. government has officially included Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in its roster of approved vendors capable of providing AI solutions to federal civilian agencies, as reported by Bloomberg. These tech powerhouses will now make their AI technologies accessible through a newly established federal contracting framework known as the Multiple Awards Schedule (MAS). This innovative platform is designed to streamline the procurement process, allowing government entities to engage with AI vendors under pre-negotiated contracts, thus eliminating the need for individual negotiations. The General Services Administration (GSA), which oversees the MAS, confirmed that these companies were evaluated based on their security measures and overall performance. This development aligns with recent executive orders from President Donald Trump aimed at advancing AI initiatives. These orders not only focus on promoting AI development but also include efforts to modify environmental regulations to enhance energy supply for data centers. Additionally, a directive mandates that federal agencies utilize AI systems that are free from ideological biases.
