HP has introduced the OmniBook X Flip, a convertible laptop designed with professionals and creatives in mind. Priced at ₹1,25,999, this device boasts a premium design, an impressive display, and AI capabilities powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra processors. Having previously reviewed the OmniBook Ultra Flip, my expectations for this model were high, and it certainly delivers on many fronts. HP consistently excels at producing laptops that exude elegance, regardless of their price point. The OmniBook X Flip, built on a sturdy aluminum chassis, features a sleek profile and weighs approximately 1.38 kilograms, making it portable and easy to carry. Its Atmospheric Blue color and sandblasted anodized finish contribute to its sophisticated look, though it is prone to fingerprints. The standout feature is its 360-degree hinge, allowing seamless transitions between laptop and tablet modes, which is particularly advantageous for artists using the Tilt Pen. Despite its slim 14.6 mm thickness, the laptop offers a commendable array of ports, including two USB ports, an HDMI port, a headphone jack, a Thunderbolt 4 port, and an additional Type-C port, ensuring versatile connectivity options. Furthermore, HP has incorporated recycled materials and secured EPEAT Gold certification, emphasizing its commitment to sustainability. Upon opening the laptop, users are greeted by a stunning 14-inch OLED touchscreen display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which enhances durability against scratches. The glossy finish allows for smooth stylus use, although it does attract smudges and can reflect light when used outdoors. This is a common trade-off with glossy screens, and while HP has implemented a brightness of 400 nits (boosting to 500 nits for HDR content), outdoor visibility can still be challenging. The display’s 3.2K resolution delivers breathtaking picture quality with vibrant colors and excellent contrast. Additionally, it supports a high refresh rate with variable refresh rate (VRR) capabilities ranging from 48Hz to 120Hz, making it ideal for both entertainment and creative work. The keyboard features a gapless design similar to that of the Dell XPS 13, which may require some adjustment for users accustomed to MacBook layouts. However, the touchpad is commendably responsive and provides satisfying feedback. The dual bottom-firing speakers produce clear and loud audio, suitable for video calls and casual listening, though audiophiles may still prefer external solutions. Powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 256V and 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, the laptop ensures smooth performance for everyday tasks, multitasking, and video editing. The 512GB NVMe storage is fast and user-replaceable, a rare feature in ultraportable laptops today. Benchmark tests yielded solid scores, indicating good performance for general use and even some gaming capabilities. The laptop runs quietly, with fan noise only noticeable during intensive tasks. The Poly Camera Pro webcam enhances video quality with AI features like background blur and auto-framing, making it ideal for remote work. A physical privacy shutter adds security. HP’s AI Companion utilizes the laptop's integrated NPU for efficient processing, minimizing reliance on cloud services. The 59Wh battery provides ample power for a full day of use, with reliable performance whether plugged in or on battery. The 65W USB Type-C charger quickly replenishes the battery. The HP OmniBook X Flip stands out as a versatile 2-in-1 laptop that combines style, performance, and portability, making it a compelling option for those seeking a device that adapts to their work style.
