How to apply for OxygenOS 16 beta in India? Eligible devices, features and more

OnePlus has officially launched the beta program for OxygenOS 16 in India, giving users an exciting preview of the upcoming user interface ahead of its official rollout on October 16. The company has begun sharing teasers about the innovative features that this latest version of OxygenOS will introduce. Currently, the beta version is available for a select number of flagship devices, including the OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13s, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, and OnePlus Open. To join the OxygenOS 16 beta, users should navigate to the Settings on their eligible OnePlus device. From there, they can access the System & update section found at the bottom of the Settings menu. Next, users should select Software update to view the current version of OxygenOS installed on their device. By tapping on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, they can find the Beta program option. Once there, a new selection for Closed beta will appear. Users need to click on Apply, carefully review the terms, and agree to the conditions presented. The application process includes completing a questionnaire, which is required to gain access to the new user interface. It's important to note that the beta application window is limited; users can submit their applications from October 9 to October 13. Additionally, OnePlus advises users to ensure their device has at least 30% battery and 4GB of free storage before starting the update process. As this is a beta program, users may not have access to all the features initially, which will be introduced gradually through future updates. There may also be compatibility issues with some third-party applications, potentially leading to problems such as app crashes, lagging, or excessive battery drain. OnePlus cautions that the update process could temporarily affect device performance, resulting in overheating or increased power consumption due to background optimizations. OnePlus has created a dedicated microsite for OxygenOS 16, highlighting features like ‘Flow Motion’ animations, which aim to enhance the smoothness of app transitions. The company also plans to expand its ‘Parallel Processing’ feature, initially introduced with OxygenOS 15, to improve multitasking and animation efficiency further. Moreover, OxygenOS 16 will enhance connectivity features, allowing for better integration with MacBooks and Windows PCs, as indicated by a settings page that resembles functionality seen in OnePlus tablets. This will include options for data sharing and clipboard synchronization across devices. While the complete list of devices eligible for the OxygenOS 16 update has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to follow OnePlus's promised update cycle. The update should be the final one for the Nord CE 4 and Nord CE 4 Lite, alongside the OnePlus Nord 3. Flagship models expected to receive the update include the OnePlus 11, OnePlus 11R, OnePlus 12, and others in the series. It’s worth noting that while the official unveiling of OxygenOS 16 is set for October 16, the stable version may not be available to users on that date. Stay tuned for more updates as OnePlus continues to enhance its software offerings.
