10 Hidden iOS 26 features Apple didn’t tell you about — and why they matter

Apple's iOS 26 has been available for several months, allowing iPhone users to explore its prominent features, including an eye-catching Liquid Glass design and an array of AI enhancements. However, the most significant upgrades often lie beneath the surface, in subtle improvements that enhance daily usability and personalization. Many of these hidden gems are the tweaks that Apple chooses not to spotlight, yet they can transform the user experience. Here are ten lesser-known features in iOS 26 that are sure to make a positive impact on your daily routine. First up is the customizable snooze duration for alarms. Users can now select snooze intervals ranging from one to fifteen minutes directly within the Clock app, allowing for a more personalized wake-up experience for each alarm. Additionally, setting custom ringtones has become easier. No longer is it necessary to rely on a Mac or third-party applications. Simply navigate to any audio clip under thirty seconds in the Files app, select Share, and choose Use as Ringtone to instantly add it to your ringtone options. For those who want to share snippets of messages, the ability to highlight and copy specific text within a messaging bubble is now available. Just press and hold the message, select the desired text, and copy it with ease. Apple Maps has also introduced a feature that keeps track of your recent locations along with visit dates. This information, accessible under Maps > Profile icon > Places > Visited Places, is stored locally on your device, ensuring privacy. Charging your iPhone has become more transparent, as users can now see an estimated charging time directly on the Lock Screen, indicating the time remaining to reach both 80% and a full charge. Also noteworthy is the new Adaptive Power setting, which automatically optimizes performance and energy usage. This feature intelligently balances power consumption during everyday tasks while ramping up performance for more demanding activities like gaming or video recording. The screenshot function has received an upgrade, allowing for contextual options immediately after capturing an image. Users can quickly send the screenshot to ChatGPT or perform an image search with just a tap. Furthermore, iOS 26 enhances call screening by providing a live transcript of conversations from unknown numbers. This feature allows users to decide whether to answer, decline, or let the call go to voicemail, adding an extra layer of convenience and security. Lastly, users can customize the visual experience of their chats by selecting unique backgrounds, including colors, gradients, photos, or even AI-generated designs to liven up conversations. Navigating through apps has also been streamlined; users can now swipe right from anywhere on the screen to return to the previous page in apps like Safari, Mail, and Settings, making the overall experience smoother and more intuitive.
