Earlier this year, Google introduced its Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 2.5 Flash models. However, unlike OpenAI, which promptly discloses user limits for its AI models, Google has been less transparent regarding how many messages users can send through its chatbot. The tech giant has previously mentioned that users of the Gemini AI Pro plan enjoy up to 20 times more access compared to basic users, while those on the AI Ultra plan can access the service up to 100 times more. Notably, the Gemini 2.5 Pro model is available to both free and paid users, although free users often encounter restrictions after sending a limited number of messages. Google has now clarified the exact messaging limits for each user tier. Free users of Gemini can send a maximum of 5 messages per day, utilizing a context window of 32,000 tokens (approximately 24,000 words). Additionally, they can generate or edit up to 100 images daily and are permitted 5 Deep Research queries each month. Free users also have the ability to create up to 20 Audio Overviews per day. In contrast, Gemini AI Pro users are allowed to send up to 100 messages daily, generate 1,000 images, and access 3 Veo 3 Fast video generations, along with 20 Deep Research reports each day. Meanwhile, customers on the Google AI Ultra plan can send up to 500 messages with the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, generate 1,000 images, create 5 Veo 3 videos, and receive 200 Deep Research reports. They also have the option to submit 10 Deep Think prompts daily, supported by a context window of 192,000 tokens (about 144,000 words). Google also highlighted that the usage limits for certain features, such as Canvas, Gems, and Storybook, are contingent on the selected model. The AI Pro subscription is priced at $19.99 per month in the United States and ₹1,950 per month in India, while the AI Ultra subscription costs $249.99 per month in the US or ₹24,500 per month in India. While free users of Gemini face a limit of 5 messages daily, OpenAI offers a slightly more lenient approach, allowing users to send 10 messages to its latest GPT-5 model every 5 hours, with a single message permitted for the GPT-5 Thinking model each day.
