Google VEO 3 video generation model is going free this weekend: How to use?

This weekend, Google is giving users a unique opportunity to access its latest Veo 3 video generation model for free, but only for a limited time. Initially unveiled at the I/O 2025 developer conference in May, the Veo 3 model had been exclusive to paid users, garnering significant attention on social media as individuals created lifelike videos. From now until 10 p.m. PT on Sunday, or 10:30 a.m. India time on Monday, users can experiment with the model through the Gemini app. Josh Woodward, head of Google Gemini, announced that the company is deploying a substantial amount of TPUs to accommodate the influx of free users. During this trial period, participants can generate three videos using the Veo 3 fast model, which produces 720p resolution videos lasting up to 8 seconds. While the fast model operates quicker than the standard version, it slightly compromises on visual quality. To create a video, users must provide detailed descriptions of their desired scenes, including visual styles and music preferences. A notable feature of Veo 3 is its ability to generate synchronized audio alongside the video. To maximize this function, users should include specifics such as background music styles, timing cues, moods, or even character dialogues. After inputting the necessary details into the chatbot, users can expect their 8-second videos to be generated in just a few minutes. For those seeking inspiration, sample prompts are available to spark creativity. One example describes a knight in silver armor navigating a misty enchanted forest, complete with cinematic visuals and an orchestral soundtrack. Another prompt captures the bustling atmosphere of a Mumbai street during the monsoon, highlighting the vibrant sounds and sights of the city. This initiative not only encourages creativity but also showcases the advanced capabilities of Google’s video generation technology.
