You can now connect your Spotify account to ChatGPT. Here’s how to do it

This week, OpenAI unveiled a new feature that allows developers to create applications within ChatGPT, enhancing user interaction with various services. One of the standout integrations is with Spotify, enabling users to engage with the music platform directly through AI prompts. When users mention Spotify in their ChatGPT inquiries, a button labeled "Use Spotify for this answer" becomes available at the bottom of the chat. By connecting their Spotify account, users grant the AI access to their musical preferences, such as liked songs and listening habits, which enriches the recommendations provided. The AI can suggest tracks, playlists, or podcasts tailored to individual tastes. Users can specify their requests with great detail, whether they want a playlist for a specific mood, event, or featuring their most-listened artists. For example, during testing, a user requested a dog-walking playlist consisting solely of songs with the word "Dog" in the title, showcasing the personalized capabilities of the feature. Tapping on any suggested music or podcast will redirect users to the Spotify app, facilitating seamless listening. Additionally, ChatGPT can execute actions on users' behalf within Spotify, such as playing music, managing playlists, and organizing the library. It's crucial for users to be aware that connecting their Spotify account involves agreeing to the app's privacy policy, which outlines data sharing and security measures. This policy highlights that in the event of a security breach, unauthorized access to user data could occur, including song history and location details. Users retain the option to disconnect their Spotify account whenever they choose. Spotify has assured its users that it does not share content from artists with OpenAI for training purposes, ensuring that all audio and video content remains secure. This feature is now accessible in English across 145 countries for all ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Pro users, with both free and premium Spotify subscribers benefiting from the integration. However, premium users can expect a more customized experience. Other companies, including Booking.com, Canva, and Zillow, have also rolled out similar integrations to enhance functionality within ChatGPT.
