Many Gmail users face the frustrating "Storage Full" notification, which stops new emails from arriving in their inbox. Fortunately, Dubai-based tech expert Abdul Şhakoor has shared practical strategies to help users recover valuable storage space efficiently. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Şhakoor provided a clear method for identifying and eliminating files that take up unnecessary space. To begin, he advises users to focus on large, often overlooked files by using specific search filters in Gmail’s search bar. Writing to his followers, he states, "If your Gmail shows Storage full and can’t receive emails, do this NOW." He suggests search filters such as: filename:pdf larger:10mb older_than:1y has:attachment, alongside other file types like mp4, zip, and docx. By entering these filters, users can easily select “Select all conversations” and delete them, often to their surprise at the amount of storage these files occupy. Next, Şhakoor highlights the importance of addressing Google Photos' hidden trash. This often contains unwanted videos, WhatsApp backups, memes, and screenshots, which can accumulate over time. By navigating to the "Utilities" section in Google Photos, users can swiftly delete these files, resulting in significant storage recovery. Lastly, he recommends clearing out promotional emails that clutter the inbox. Users can do this by adjusting settings to enable the "Promotions" tab in Gmail and then employing the search filter category:promotions to select and delete all such emails. This step helps maintain a tidy and efficient inbox. Concluding his advice, Şhakoor expresses hope that these methods will benefit others as they have for him. With these straightforward steps, Gmail users can tackle storage issues effectively without the need for costly upgrades or complicated solutions.
