PayPal and Venmo are giving out Comet invites and free Perplexity Pro subscriptions

Perplexity's latest AI-driven web browser, Comet, is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after tools on the internet. Initially available only to premium subscribers and a select few, Comet is now more accessible thanks to a new initiative by PayPal. On Wednesday, PayPal announced that it will provide its customers, including users of Venmo, with early access to Comet and a complimentary one-year subscription to Perplexity Pro, a service that typically costs $200 annually. Launched in July, Comet features an integrated AI assistant, AI-generated summaries of search results, and product comparisons among its innovative offerings. This partnership is significant not just for its marketing potential but also for the vast reach PayPal enjoys among U.S. consumers, which could ultimately extend to a global audience. PayPal stands to gain by attracting users to its platform through the allure of the Comet invite and subscription, while also promoting its new subscriptions hub, designed to streamline the management of recurring payments. Additionally, PayPal is enticing users with a promotion that rewards $50 for linking and paying for at least three subscriptions through its service. For Perplexity, this collaboration offers a chance to gain visibility in a competitive market for AI tools, especially as AI-powered browsers seek to challenge the dominance of established players like Chrome. The promotion could also lead to an increase in paid subscribers, as many users might decide to continue their subscription after enjoying a free year of Perplexity Pro. To take advantage of this offer, PayPal and Venmo users can find the Comet invite and subscription details directly within their apps. Note that each PayPal account is limited to one invite, and existing Perplexity Pro customers are ineligible. Diego Scotti, PayPal's General Manager of the Consumer Group, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Our collaboration with Perplexity gives our customers exclusive access to one of the most anticipated AI browsers. We aim to provide tools that enhance their financial experiences with added convenience and rewards." This exclusive offer is available until the end of 2025 and is currently limited to U.S. customers, with plans to expand internationally later this month.
