Ultrahuman, recognized for its innovative smart rings, has announced its acquisition of viO HealthTech, a company specializing in women's health technology. This strategic move aims to enhance the tracking of menstrual cycles and ovulation. While the financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the collaboration promises to introduce a new feature called "Cycle and Ovulation Pro" for the Ultrahuman Ring AIR. This new plugin is designed to provide users with precise tracking of their menstrual cycles, assist in fertility planning with ovulation confirmations, and identify patterns such as early or late ovulation. Users will also have the ability to log their moods and symptoms, helping to reveal long-term health trends. The Cycle and Ovulation Pro feature employs a temperature-sensing algorithm, originally created for viO’s OvuSense fertility monitors, which has been developed over 15 years using a dataset of over 260,000 cycles captured with medical-grade sensors. The technology incorporated into the Ultrahuman Ring AIR allows for cycle tracking directly from the finger, offering personalized insights that adapt as users progress. Ultrahuman emphasizes that many menstrual tracking applications are tailored to women with regular 28-day cycles, neglecting the fact that a significant number of women experience diverse cycle patterns, particularly those with conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, or thyroid disorders. In a statement, Ultrahuman expressed that the acquisition is intended to provide a more accurate and supportive experience for these women. The company also confirmed that the existing free Cycle & Ovulation PowerPlug, offering basic tracking tools and calendar predictions, will continue to be available. "Wearables will shape the future of health," stated Rob Milnes, CEO of viO HealthTech. He expressed enthusiasm about extending the reach of OvuSense's women's health insights to a broader audience through the Ultrahuman Ring AIR. Starting today, the Cycle and Ovulation Pro plugin is available as a premium feature within the Ultrahuman app for $3.99 per month or $39.99 per year, initially accessible to users in the U.S., U.K., EU, Australia, and Canada, with plans for future expansion into more regions.
