The Ukrainian hacktivist group known as BO Team has made headlines by claiming responsibility for a significant cyber intrusion into the Russian drone manufacturer, Gaskar Group. This operation, which was reportedly executed in collaboration with the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance and Ukraine’s military intelligence, aimed to disrupt the company’s operations and seize control of its network. In a message shared on their Telegram channel, BO Team detailed the extent of the breach, stating that they undertook comprehensive efforts to capture the entire network and server infrastructure of Gaskar Group. This included extracting critical information related to both existing and future unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) before proceeding to obliterate data and disable the infrastructure. According to BO Team, the attack resulted in the destruction of over 250 systems, comprising 46 virtual servers and upwards of 200 workstations. They also reported erasing a staggering 47 terabytes of company data alongside 10 terabytes of backup files. Additionally, the group claimed to have retrieved personal information from Gaskar Group employees, which included sensitive details such as home addresses and family information. The significance of this cyber offensive cannot be understated, especially given the extensive use of drones by both Ukrainian and Russian military forces since the onset of the full-scale invasion in 2022. Gaskar Group is known for its role in supplying drones to the Russian military. As of now, there has been no response from Gaskar Group regarding the claims made by the hacktivists.
