The National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom announced on Wednesday the arrest of a man believed to be involved in a ransomware attack that led to significant disruptions across multiple European airports over the weekend. The cyber assault targeted check-in systems supplied by Collins Aerospace, striking on Friday and resulting in delays at major airports, including Brussels, Berlin, Dublin, and Heathrow in London. These interruptions persisted until the following day. While the NCA has not disclosed the suspect's identity, they noted he is in his forties and was apprehended in West Sussex on Tuesday. Following his arrest, he was released on conditional bail. Paul Foster, deputy director and head of the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit, emphasized that while the arrest represents a promising development, the investigation is still in its infancy and is ongoing. NCA spokesperson Richard Crowe later informed TechCrunch that no further details would be released at this time.
