Uber delivery chief Gore-Coty is leaving after almost 13 years at ride-hailing company

Uber announced on Monday that Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, a pivotal figure in its leadership and head of the delivery division, is departing the company after nearly 13 years. Having joined Uber in 2012 as a general manager in France, Gore-Coty quickly advanced to vice president of mobility for Europe and the Middle East by 2016. In 2021, he was promoted to senior vice president of delivery. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi expressed that it is difficult to envision Uber without Gore-Coty, noting his significant role in driving global mobility expansion and his leadership of Uber Eats, which he took over just weeks before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has not disclosed what Gore-Coty's future plans entail. In conjunction with this announcement, Uber revealed that Andrew Macdonald, who has been with the company since May 2012, will take on the role of chief operating officer. Macdonald will oversee the global mobility, delivery, and autonomous sectors, in addition to other critical functions such as customer support and safety. Reflecting on his tenure, Gore-Coty remarked, "These last nearly 13 years have been the ride of a lifetime. I am immensely proud of what we've accomplished and the difference we've made in urban life across the globe." Following the announcement, Uber's shares remained stable after closing at $83.64, with a year-to-date increase of 39%, juxtaposed against a flat Nasdaq performance. Additionally, Uber's recent quarterly results surpassed earnings expectations but fell short on revenue. This follows a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission accusing the company of deceptive billing practices concerning its Uber One subscription service, which Khosrowshahi described as puzzling during a CNBC interview.
