Uber has launched a new initiative called Senior Accounts, designed specifically for older users to provide a more user-friendly experience. This account type features a simplified interface with larger text and icons, making navigation easier. Key functionalities include ride updates that can be shared with family members, saved destinations for convenience, and the option to make payments using a family member’s credit card. Users can activate this mode through the app's accessibility settings. In the U.S., individuals can now include senior family members in their family accounts via the 'Family' menu found in the Accounts tab. Those managing the family account can not only add their own payment methods but also modify saved destinations, book rides on behalf of seniors, and communicate with drivers during trips. Additionally, family members can track the rides of senior users. Notably, seniors can link their Medicare Flex card to cover eligible medical appointments. Uber aims to roll out Senior Accounts globally, though a specific timeline for international availability has yet to be announced. This launch follows the introduction of teen accounts in select U.S. cities earlier in 2023, which were subsequently expanded to additional regions.
